Hello. My name is Petunia. Welcome. I would like to share my experience with natural pest control tactics with you through this site. I am deathly afraid of all insects that crawl and fly. When an insect enters my living space, I have to call in reinforcements to help me remove the invader. I do not believe in using chemicals when natural substances can do the job, however. Therefore, I started to become adept at using natural pest control tactics to keep pests from entering my home in the first place. I hope you can use the information on my site to keep your home pest free. Thanks.
Pigeons are a common pest for those that live in urban areas. In addition to leaving droppings, these birds can also contribute to fairly major damage to your building if they are allowed to nest on it. While pigeons are a common pest, there are many people that are simply unaware of their options for effectively combating these birds.
Limit the Ability of The Birds to Access Food
One of the most effective things that you can do for limiting the pigeon population around your property is to reduce the ability of these birds to access food. While you may not be giving the birds food, they may be stealing it from the trash bin or from your pets. By avoiding leaving your pet's food outside for long periods of time and making sure the dumpster is completely closed, you will find that you can drastically reduce the availability of food for the pigeons.
Promptly Remove Pigeon Nests
If you ever notice that the pigeons have started to build nests on your building or in the neighboring trees, you should contact a pest control professional to have the nest removed. By removing the nest, you will encourage the birds to move to a new property without having to harm them. While you may want to attempt to do this yourself, it should typically be avoided. Removing these nests can be very difficult due to the locations where the birds build them, and there is a chance the birds may become aggressive if you disturb their nest. This is especially true if they have recently laid eggs.
Use Netting and Wire Mesh to Close Areas the Birds Like to Target
Drains, gutters, and ledges are common areas for pigeons to build nests. Unfortunately, their nests can cause sizable damage to buildings as they will prevent moisture from being able to evaporate or drain away. Also, the droppings and waste products that the birds will leave in these nests can damage paint, corrode metal, and cause other forms of serious damage to the building.
Luckily, you can easily and effectively prevent these birds from being able to reach these areas by installing a mesh that will block the birds. Wire mesh is a common choice, but it can be somewhat noticeable. For those that want a discrete option for meeting his need, there are bird netting products that are made of extremely thin or clear fibers that will be much more difficult to notice from a distance.
